Linda F. Vaughn developed an interest in music at a formative age. As a child, she often took piano lessons and sung in her church choir, as well as played the flute during high school in their school band. As time progressed, Ms. Vaughn pursued a formal education at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where she earned both a Bachelor of Music in organ performance and vocal education and a Bachelor of Arts in German in 1974.
