Always seeking a career in the fields of law and government, Thomas J. Wynne first graduated from Everett High School in 1961. He matriculated in the University of Washington and received a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1965. Following his receipt of his bachelor’s degree, he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Washington School of Law in 1968. Mr. Wynne subsequently joined the United States Army, where he was a commander and battalion adjutant in Germany between 1969 and 1971. Thereafter, he was recognized as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve from 1972 to 1993.
Mr. Wynne commenced his professional career in 1972, having served as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Snohomish County, Washington, until 1978. From 1979 to 1992, he also served as a district court judge while concurrently excelling as a presiding judge for the Snohomish County District Court between 1990 and 1991. Mr. Wynne was first elected to the Snohomish County Superior Court in 1993, serving as a superior court judge until his retirement from the superior court in 2017. During this time, he also thrived as a presiding judge between 2004 and 2007.
In his post-retirement years, Mr. Wynne has continued to serve as a pro tem judge for the Snohomish County Superior and District Courts beginning in 2017. Outside of his primary endeavors, he was vice chairman of the judicial information systems committee for the State of Washington Court System from 2011 to 2016. Likewise, he twice sat as chairman of the budget committee for the Snohomish County Superior Court from 1996 to 2003 and again from 2008 to 2016.
A member of the Rotary Club of Lynwood, Washington, Mr. Wynne has maintained affiliation with the Reserve Officers Association, through which he served as president of the Snohomish County chapter. Looking toward the future, Mr. Wynne intends to continue enjoying his retirement while presiding as a pro tem judge. He is the proud father of two children, Natalie and Tom, and a doting grandfather of five grandchildren: Joey, Steven, Debora, Alex and Spencer.
