John Hugo Engelhardt has been interested in law from a young age, particularly the areas of property law and probate law. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas in 1968, he went on to serve as a history teacher for Pearsall High School in Texas from 1968 to 1969. Subsequently, after receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law and being admitted before the Supreme Court of Texas in 1973, he served in private practice in New Braunfels, Texas, from 1973 to 1975. Notably, Mr. Engelhardt was then an examining attorney for the Commercial Title Company in San Antonio, Texas, for the following three years, followed by an additional four years in the same capacity for the San Antonio Title Company. Since 1982, Mr. Engelhardt has excelled as a lawyer in private practice in New Braunfels.
In 2011, Mr. Engelhardt was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, where he impressively served as an officer of the court for many years. Considering this feat a career highlight, he is also especially proud of being elected a fellow of the College of the State Bar of Texas. He is a noted member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States of America and Pi Gamma Mu, among other organizations. Mr. Engelhardt, a Roman Catholic, is honored to be a member of the Cathedral of Saint John Lateran in Rome, the Papal Cathedral.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Engelhardt was the recipient of the Men of Achievement Award in 1986, and two years later, received the Community Leader of America Award. He has also been profiled in such Who’s Who publications as Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
Married to his wife Jasmin since 1976, Mr. Engelhardt is the proud father of two daughters, Angelique and Sabrina. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, studying finance and traveling.
