A chartered financial analyst since September 1987, Jerry W. Mill boasts a career spanning over the course of five decades within the realms of finance management and engineering. Retired since 2017, he most recently served as the owner and a portfolio manager for Mill Asset Management, Inc., from 1995 to 2016. Holding several roles previously in his career beginning in 1967, he has established a renowned name for himself in financial expertise, particularly in money management, mutual funds and individual portfolios.
At the inception of his career following his graduation from the University of California Berkeley, Mr. Mill was offered a job by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the Manned Spacecraft Center, later renamed the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, in Houston. Maintaining the role of engineer from 1967 to 1980, he cites his time spent with NASA as the highlight of his career. Notable, he worked in the organization’s Mission Operations Control Room (MOCR) as a guidance officer, where he oversaw the guidance, navigation and control subsystem for Apollo missions 10, 11, 13, 14, 17 and Skylab. Likewise, he excelled in the Apollo Guidance Computer Support in the Staff Support Room across the hall from the MOCR for Apollo missions 12, 14, 15, 16 and the Apollo Soyuz Test Project in 1975.
Despite his innate curiosity of outer space and the space programs from the 1960s and 1970s, human exploration of the universe ceased by the 1980s and Mr. Mill departed from NASA to serve Martin Marietta, Inc., as an engineer from 1980 to 1985. Discovering his love for finance, he subsequently decided to change career paths. Thereafter, he was a portfolio manager and financial analyst for Financial Programs in Denver from 1985 to 1991, as well as a portfolio manager for Invesco Trust Company from 1991 to 1995.
Mr. Mill is an active member of the Denver Society of Security Analysts and former member of the Colorado Mountain Club. Currently residing in Centennial, Colorado, he enjoys exercising, biking, hiking, camping, river rafting and spending time with his friends. Looking towards the future, he hopes to eventually travel to Iceland and Scandinavia.
