Beginning in 1989, Dr. Leone has been teaching at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, New York. Becoming a program administrator in 2001, he has also taught at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, from 1993 to 2003. Certified to teach in New York and Pennsylvania, he has also lent his expertise to several other educational endeavors. Since 2001, he has been an English curriculum coordinator for the Verizon Next Step Program, as well as a computer consultant for the Nyack Fire Department since 1993. Earlier in his career, he was an advisor for the literary magazine of Bishop Egan High School and an advisor for the drama club at Sewanhaka High School.
A past editor of the D.A. Report from 1996 to 1998, Dr. Leone attributes his success to his interest in science and technology. Reading and collecting comic books as a young boy, he taught himself to read and soon found himself intrigued by mythology, religion and science fiction. As a testament to his success, he has earned numerous accolades, most recently including the Star Award and the Next Step Recognition of Service from the Verizon Next Step Program in 2006 and 2015, respectively. Additionally, he received the Recognition Award from Cisco in 2008, which he cites as a career highlight, and the Outstanding Programs in English Award from the Two Year College Association/National Council of Teachers of English in 2002.
Dr. Leone has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World. Looking toward the future, he intends to retire and travel the world.
