Johnson, Richard 4051467_380180 Newsletter

Desiring to be a lawyer from a young age, Richard Fred Johnson has been the owner of the Law Office of Richard Fred Johnson in Evanston, IL, since 2014, where he focuses his practice on insurance law, admiralty, and railroad law. He commenced his career in law in 1969, serving as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for one year. After obtaining his law degree, he served as an associate for Lord, Bissell & Brook in Chicago from 1970 to 1977, soon ascending the ranks to partner for the following 27 years. For the next decade, he served as a partner of Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym Ltd. prior to founding his own law office.

Equally passionate about civic outreach, Mr. Johnson has volunteered with the Cook County Jail, the Chicago History Museum, the Center for Disability and Elder Law, and the Northwestern Bluhm Legal Clinic. Since 2006, he has served as an ordained Catholic priest with the Archdiocese of Chicago. To share his wealth of knowledge with the legal community, he also authored “Interjurisdictional Depositions” in Illinois Civil Discovery Practice in 2014 and has contributed multiple articles to professional journals. He is also a frequent lecturer in the field.

Among the notable highlights of his career, Mr. Johnson is most proud of being one of four participants who were highly ranked among 86 men and women who ran for judge of Cook County in 2004. Although he did not win the election, he was the only one of the four participants who had not previously been a state’s attorney or public defender. He holds great pride in this accomplishment as it was a testament to his excellence in the field.

Married with four children, Mr. Johnson enjoys exercising and watching local sports in his spare time. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Miami University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Northwestern University, where he graduated cum laude.
