A professor of biology in the College of Science and Math at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), Cindy Malone, Ph.D., is an accomplished educator with several years of experience in the field of academia.

A longtime member of the American Association of University Women, Dr. Malone sought formal education early in her career, first earning a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from Illinois State University in 1991. She subsequently obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in microbiology and immunology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Shortly thereafter, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics at UCLA.

In an effort to impart her wealth of knowledge onto the scientific community, Dr. Malone has contributed to numerous publications throughout the course of her career. Most recently, she co-authored “Maximal Expression of the Evolutionarily Conserved Slit2 Gene Promoter Requires Sp1” in 2015, “Defining the Role of Oxygen Tension in Human Neural Progenitor Fate” in 2014, and “Measuring Energy Metabolism in Human Pluripotent Stem Cells and Differentiated Cells” in 2012. Alongside her career endeavors, she was a member of the Neighborhood Oversight Committee in Tarzana, Calif., from 2000 to 2002.

Married to Michael Alan Teitell since 1995, Dr. Malone is the proud mother of two children, Benjamin Patrick and Liliana Elizabeth. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, swimming and running.
