An esteemed educator in the public school system, Anne R. Hardin Mason has accrued over 60 years of professional experience in her field of expertise. Formerly a teacher at College Park Middle School in Hickory, N.C., from 1981 to 1992, she previously taught at Southwest Elementary School from 1977 to 1981. Ms. Hardin Mason has additionally worked as a teacher at Oakwood Elementary School from 1955 to 1959, commencing her career as an educator with North School in Gastonia, N.C., from 1954 to 1955.
The recipient of a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1954, Ms. Hardin Mason maintains affiliations with the National Education Association and the North Carolina Association of Educators. Alongside her career endeavors, she has participated in several civic-minded ventures, including as chairperson of the Transportation Committee of the First Presbyterian Church since 2005, chairperson of the Congregational Care Committee of the First Presbyterian Church since 1997, chief judge of the Board of Elections in Newton, N.C., from 1992 to 2003, and docent of the Hickory Museum of Art, among several other associations.
Delving into the field of academia due to her passion for working with students, Ms. Hardin Mason is the proud mother of three children: Charles, Shelly and Jennifer. In her spare time, she enjoys playing bridge and participating in the Garden Club.
