Backed by more than four decades of invaluable experience, Michael Rodney Newman, Esq., has established himself as a prominent leader in the legal sector. Since 1989, he has served as a partner of Daar & Newman. Additionally, he currently serves as a judge pro tempore for the Los Angeles Municipal Court and the Los Angeles Superior Court. Outside of these roles, Dr. Newman actively assists CONSULEGIS EEIG as a member of its board of directors, business generation committee and advisory board. A sought-after speaker, he has lectured for numerous schools and organizations, including Loyola Law School; Global California; the California State Bar Convention; UCLA Anderson School of Management; and California State University.
Prior to receiving a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Denver in 1967, Mr. Newman studied at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies Columbia University, as he initially pursued a profession as an astrophysicist. He eventually developed interests in other areas and began taking business law courses. Captivated by the profession’s thought-provoking challenges and motivated by his father’s encouragement, Mr. Newman ultimately decided on his career path. He obtained a Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School/University of Chicago in 1970, and the following year, he gained bar admission through the State Bar of California. Shortly thereafter, he commenced his law career as an associate with the law firm of David Daar. Over the ensuing decades, Mr. Newman grew fond of Mr. Daar, and now considers him a mentor, partner, and the driving force in his life and career. With an intriguing background in law, mathematics and physics, Mr. Newman has earned several honors in recognition of his broad expertise. He is the recipient of the 1962 New York University Physics Medal, as well as the 1993 Mathematics Award from the U.S. Navy. In addition, he has been published in Marquis Who’s Who Publications such as Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in American Business & Finance, and Who’s Who in the West. A top rated international attorney in Woodland Hills, Calif., Mr. Newman was selected to Super Lawyers from 2015 through 2018. He is admitted to practice through the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, United States District Court for the Southern District of California, United States District Court for the Northern District of California, United States District Court for the Central District of California, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Supreme Court of the United States, and United States Tax Court.
Mr. Newman’s interest in civic work resulted in the Distinguished Service Award from The Athletics Congress of the United States in 1988. Throughout the course of his career, he has exercised his passion for his profession through a multitude of professional affiliations, including the ABA’s Committee on Class Actions, German American Business Association, German American Lawyers Association of Southern California, Lawyers Professional Liability Bar Association, Conference of Insurance Counsel, and Los Angeles World Affairs Council. Today, he serves as an executive committee member of the International Law Sections of both the Los Angeles County Bar Association and State Bar of California.
