Roberta Louise Gibb, JD, has established herself as a woman of many trades over the course of her illustrious career, which now spans almost 50 years. Currently, she serves as a research associate in neurology at the Cecil B. Day Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS). Having served in this role since 2003, Ms. Gibb has studied hundreds of articles on neurodegenerative diseases. In 1980, she began a private law practice, and continues to offer legal help if an interesting case presents itself. Additionally, she creates murals and sculptures as an artist, and held a one-woman show at the White Ellery House in September 2016. Prior to establishing her practice, she served as a legal aid for the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1973. Additionally, from 1972 to 1985, Ms. Gibb worked with some of the top neuroscientists in the world at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ms. Gibb’s passions for medicine and art extend far beyond work, as she has served as the founding president of the Institute for the Study of Natural Systems International since 1976. Additionally, she is affiliated with the Rockport Art Association, the National Sculpture Society, the Boston Athletic Association and the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) Alumni Association. Dedicated to the welfare of her community and future generations, Ms. Gibb has served as co-president of the United States Association of the Club of Rome (USA\COR) since 2014. She also sits on the organization’s board of directors. Furthermore, Ms. Gibb served on the board of directors for the Essex County Parks Department’s Essex County Environmental Center from 1980 to 1985.
In 1969, Ms. Gibb earned a Bachelor of Science from UC San Diego. She went on to receive a Juris Doctor from New England Law in 1982, which was followed by her admittance to the Massachusetts Bar Association. Since joining the legal field, she has made herself proud by helping many people solve their problems. Ms. Gibb’s contributions to her various fields have warranted several awards and accolades. She is the recipient of the Manship Award, as well as the 2009 Athletics Distinguished Achievement Award from Tufts University. A frequent marathon runner, Ms. Gibb was included in the Hall of Fame sections of the Road Runners Club of America in 1982 and the Sports Museum in 2011. Additionally, she placed first in the Boston Marathon’s Women’s Division from 1966 to 1968.
