Since 1968, Dr. Thor Andreas Alvegard has shared his insights and expertise with a new generation of researchers and medical doctors. Intrigued by medicine at an early age, Dr. Alvegard dedicated his life and career to research and education. His achievements include researching prognostic factors in soft tissue sarcoma, high-dose chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, and total body irradiation.
Dr. Alvegard earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Free University of Berlin in 1968. He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Lund University in Sweden in 1989. Along with being a diplomate at the Swedish college, he also held a post as an assistant professor in 1991. Additionally, from 2000 to 2008, he was the director of the Department of Cancer Epidemiology at Lund University.
In honor of his achievements, Dr. Alvegard was recognized by Marquis Who’s Who for Excellence in Medical Research & Education. Moreover, he was listed in Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who’s Who in the World. Now retired, Dr. Alvegard enjoys traveling and swimming.
