Dr. Timothy J. Curry was always interested in pursuing a profession as an economist. He prepared himself for a fruitful career in the field by earning a Bachelor of Arts from King’s College in Pennsylvania in 1966 and a Master of Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 1968. Two years after obtaining a master’s degree, he joined the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. During this time, Dr. Curry furthered his education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from the George Washington University (GWU) in 1979.
After working as a financial economist at the Federal Reserve Board for 15 years, Dr. Curry went on to serve the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, the Resolution Trust Corporation, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Applying his knowledge in corporate settings was not enough to satisfy Dr. Curry, thus he shared his expertise and wisdom in academia by instructing the next wave of economists. Dr. Curry was an adjunct professor at GWU, a visiting professor at San Diego State University, a professional lecturer at the DuBois Campus of Pennsylvania State, and a visiting professor at George Mason University in Virginia. He was also a researcher and teacher for many international conferences, as well as a supervisor for small banks.
Using his extensive experience in the field of financial economics, Dr. Curry wrote the two-volume “History of the 80s: Lessons for The Future,” and co-authored the article “The Cost of the Savings and Loan Crisis: Truth and Consequences,” which appeared in the FDIC Banking Review. He has contributed many other articles to professional journals on subjects such as banking supervision, market fluctuation, risk analysis, and distressed real estate. Dr. Curry has been recognized for his achievements with inclusion in Who’s Who in America.
