Dr. John Carroll Kennedy is a distinguished pediatrician who has accrued nearly 40 years of professional experience in pediatric medicine. Since 2000, he has thrived as a pediatrician at Pediatrics in Brevard, a Florida-based medical practice that recently celebrated its 50th year in business. One of the largest pediatric practices in Central Florida, Pediatrics in Brevard recently joined Previa, a management service organization, in 2020, leveraging its scheduling capabilities, recruiting abilities, billing and financial support systems, and other services to support the organization’s growing presence. Before relocating to Florida, Dr. Kennedy worked in private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan, between 1987 and 2000.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Kennedy pursued a formal education at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1976. From there, he obtained a master’s degree in immunology and parasitology from the University of Florida in 1979. In 1984, Dr. Kennedy earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. Shortly thereafter, he completed a residency at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio in 1987 and was board certified as a pediatrician in 1988.
In accounting for his success, Dr. Kennedy credits his unwavering resolve to excel as a physician and his genuine joy for taking care of children on a daily basis. Drawing upon an inherent interest in the sciences and feelings of fulfillment from helping others, he made the decision to enter the medical industry during his collegiate studies, noting that medicine presented with stable job security. Although he has experienced many career highlights, Dr. Kennedy is particularly proud of privately practicing medicine in Michigan while concurrently serving as one of the most well-regarded hospitalists in the state at the time.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Kennedy aims to ease into a well-deserved retirement. In his retirement, he wishes to spend more time with his family, which includes two daughters, Jamie and Lauren. Dr. Kennedy is a fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatrics and enjoys biking and vacationing in his leisure time.
