Supported by more than 35 years of professional excellence, Doreen L. Dann is well-regarded for her expertise in health insurance and health care administration. Since 2005, she has been the sole proprietor of Doreen Dann Healthcare Consulting, an independent business that helps hospitals and health care organizations with patient-centric care, shared governance, strategic planning and staff retention strategies. Since 2018, she has served as an independent health insurance agent and is now the sole proprietor and owner of DLD Healthcare Insurance Services, an independent business that helps senior citizens navigate the health care journey. In Orange County alone, Ms. Dann is affiliated with approximately 13 health care organizations, oversees 96 products, and has goals to continue working independently while focusing on meeting her clients’ needs for years to come.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Dann served as the chief nursing officer at Corona Regional Medical Center from 2014 to 2015, the chief operating officer and chief nursing officer at Desert Valley Hospital from 2013 to 2014, and the chief nursing officer and administrator at Chino Valley Medical Center from 2011 to 2013. She also served as the chief operations officer and chief nursing officer at Victor Valley Community Hospital from 2009 to 2011.
Previously, Ms. Dann garnered significant expertise with St. Jude Medical Center (now known as Providence St. Jude Medical Center), where she served in a myriad of positions for 28 years. Starting her career there as a nurse manager, she advanced to become a clinical director for various areas in the medical center. Subsequently, she ascended to the role of senior vice president/clinical services and chief nursing officer, serving in such capacity for 12 years, and was later promoted to executive vice president/chief operating officer, a role she held for the last 10 years of her tenure at the medical center. She also held the position of quality coordinator for the Johnston R. Bowman Center for the Elderly and assistant unit leader at Rush University in Chicago.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Dann received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Illinois University and attained her Illinois registered nurse license, which remains active today in California. She also attained a California resident license as an Insurance Producer in health and life in 2018. She is now licensed in 11 other states and is primarily focused on commercial and senior products. As time progressed, she received a Master of Healthcare Administration from Chapman University in 2011.
Among the many highlights of her career, Ms. Dann is particularly proud of innovating the clinical areas of the hospitals with which she worked, which included pioneering single-room maternity care, the patient care technician role, contributing a chapter to a published textbook, and creating the “My Story” for families of critically ill patients to contribute personal meaningful information about their loved one, thus enabling their caregivers to know their patients more intimately. In the coming years, Ms. Dann strives to continue providing her consultancy services at no cost or obligation to those she assists. She attributes much of her career success to her emphasis on creating a work environment that appreciated and embraced the values of patient-centric care, operational efficiency and excellence in service.
