Since 2017, Dr. Dustin D. Turley has served as the owner of Savage Fitness in Scott City, Kansas. Among his myriad of responsibilities, Dr. Turley emphasizes the importance of strength and conditioning training, providing corrective fitness to individuals who may be at risk of muscle imbalances and potential injury. As part of his corrective fitness regimen, he detects deficiencies in movement patterns and performs modifications and exercises to help remedy the issues. He also performs rehabilitative strength and conditioning training and personal training sessions in both virtual and in-person formats.
Previously, Dr. Turley spent 25 years in aging and disability services, working in a multitude of positions such as a physician assistant, vocational coordinator and administrative head of various departments. Although he thoroughly enjoyed his experience in the health care sector, Dr. Turley desired greater job security and transitioned his career path to entrepreneurship and fitness. He obtained licensure in strength and conditioning from the International Sports Science Association in 2017, as well as six licenses in fitness training for youth, geriatric, rehabilitative, corrective purposes, strength and conditioning, and nutrition coaching. Outside of his primary career efforts, Dr. Turley works at his father’s plumbing company, RT Plumbing LLC, where he handles the company’s finances and management.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Turley pursued a formal education, first receiving a Bachelor of Science in general psychology from Fort Hays State University in 2002. Continuing his education at the university, he subsequently earned a Master of Liberal Arts in organizational leadership in 2005. After accruing many years in his field, Dr. Turley returned to higher education at Northcentral University (now merged with National University), from which he earned a Master of Business Administration in public administration in 2017 and a Doctor of Business Administration in human resource management, with honors, in 2022.
A member of numerous business and leadership societies in his spare time, Dr. Turley attributes much of his success to his sense of discipline and time management skills. In the coming years, he aims to open a gym in Scott City and expand his online business to a global scale to train collegiate, professional and elite athletes remotely.
