Inspired to enter the field of psychiatric service due to her passion for helping others, Dr. Katherine A. Daly currently serves as a child psychiatrist at Fairview Health Services. After completing a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1992, she went on to complete an internship in obstetrics-gynecology at Loyola Medicine MacNeal Hospital. During her internship, she discovered her interest in maternal-fetal bonding. Subsequently, she returned to the University of Minnesota Medical School, completing a residency in pediatrics.
At this time, Dr. Daly found her passion for research in the relationship between children and their parents. Deciding thereafter to pursue psychiatry, she then completed an additional residency in psychiatry. Concluding her medical training, she completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in 2000. She is certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, as well as in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Daly also holds a medical license in the state of Minnesota.
Attributing much of her success to her aptitude for hard work, Dr. Daly notes that she has accrued much experience and life lessons with each vocational and personal experience she has had. Among her many career highlights, she is especially proud of passing her three board examinations.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Daly aims to continue researching child-parent interactions and helping her patients. She also hopes to work more intensively with family bonding and family interactions, including how pharmacological interventions can help families that are experiencing hardship.
