Leveraging a lifelong interest in art, Charleen Verena Kavleski has excelled as a board member of the Amos Eno Gallery since 1984, where she formerly served as a treasurer from 1991 to 1994.

A noteworthy conceptual artist and sculptor, her work has been displayed across the State of New York and throughout the country beginning in the early 1980s, with her most recent shows in 2020 and 2021 at the Albany Center Galleries, the Members Annual Exhibition with the National Association of Women Artists, and the Amos Eno Gallery in Brooklyn. Earlier, she displayed her work in group shows and in the Winter Art Show with the Catskill Art Society in Livingston Manor, New York, in 2019 and 2020, at the 104 South Gallery in 2018, and at the Sylvia Wald and Po Kim Art Gallery in 2017.

Beginning her solo artist career in 1982, Ms. Kavleski first displayed her work at the West Broadway Gallery in New York City, followed by a group exhibition at The Haggin Museum in Stockton, California, in 1985. She has also showcased her work at the Three Rivers Art Festival in Pittsburgh, the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, the Mohawk-Hudson Regional Exhibition and the New York Academy of Sciences in 1992. Later on, she displayed her artwork at the Beck Gallery at the Sullivan County Historical Society in Hurleyville, New York, the Plotkin Gallery in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and Shops at the Loom. Impressively, she was commissioned by Christopher Coleman Interior Design to create an installation of painted constructions in 2013.

Outside of her primary artistic endeavors, Ms. Kavleski pursued a career in academia, becoming an art teacher for the Monticello Central School District in New York in 1968. Remaining in that role until 1999, she concurrently served Robert J. Kaiser Middle School as an art advisor and editor of the literary and art magazine from 1989 to 1999. Likewise, she was an antiques and art dealer with Brockmann’s Antique Center in Milford, New York, between 1983 and 2009. To the present, she maintains affiliation with Albatross Antiques and Art in South Fallsburg, New York.

Attaining several accolades for her work, Ms. Kavleski was featured several times in the Sullivan County Democrat, the Times Herald Record, the Great Neck Record and Temple Emanuel of Great Neck. She was also commissioned by Dr. Goddard Lainjo in Middletown, New York, and Dr. Gustav Gavis in Monticello, New York. Featured in Les Krantz’s “The New York Art Review” in 1988, she received recognition from Brenda Sywalski with the Art Teacher of the Year Award from the New York State Art Teacher’s Association, dedicating her career choice to her art teacher. She also received the Eve Helman Memorial Award for Works on Paper at the National Association of Women Artists Awards in 2018. Additionally, she received the Elizabeth Horman Memorial Award for Digital Art from the 125th Annual Exhibition of the National Association of Women Artists in 2014, who also bestowed upon her the Miriam E. Halpern Memorial Award at the 105th Annual Exhibition. Most notably, Ms. Kavleski was recognized with a first place designation for her installation at the Nephenthe Mundi Emerald City Classic and received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
