At the inception of her career in 1988, she served as an assistant professor at her alma mater, Guangzhou Medical University, for two years.

Dr. Liu attributed her immense success to self-motivation and a desire to become the best at all of her endeavors. Living by her personal motto to leverage positivity to make the world a better place, she believed that her role as a practitioner was to raise awareness and empower her patients to be in control of discovering their own health. She was mentored significantly by Robert Ledeen, a world-renowned neurochemist who taught Dr. Liu at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. Likewise, she was encouraged by Martha Lansing at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, who served as a program director and vice chair of family medicine and community health. Furthermore, Dr. Liu was inspired by Dr. Henry Shaoli and Dr. Robert Wong, who are both recognized as top physicians across the globe.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Liu was especially proud of receiving a Commendation from U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin in 2010 and being named a Top Doctor in New Jersey by Horizon New Jersey Health. Among her other accolades, in 2019, she earned an Outstanding Medical Services Award from Bergen County, an Outstanding Health Services Award from Bergen County Clerk John Hogan, a Certificate of Commendation from the Board of Chosen Freeholders for Bergen County and a Certificate of Commendation from Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton. Earlier, she was recognized as a Patients’ Choice Winner by Opencare in 2018 and a Good Samaritan Commendation from Continental Airlines in 2008.

Dr. Liu aspired to develop breakthroughs in her field by developing cures to illnesses, furthering treatment modalities and conducting research. She passed away surrounded by friends and family in 2021.
