In the midst of the environmental movement in the 1970s, Pamela Hall was studying zoology at the University of New Hampshire, from which she obtained a Master of Science in 1969. Described as a culmination of both her personal and professional interests, she commenced her career prior to attaining her master’s degree at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, serving as a research assistant from 1966 to 1967. Following doctoral coursework in zoology, she began at Normandeau Associates, Inc., in Bedford, New Hampshire, in 1971 as a program manager, holding the role until 1979. From there, she escalated through the ranks to marine laboratory director in 1979, programs and operations manager in 1981, and vice president in 1983. In 1982, she also received a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.

In 1988, Ms. Hall was promoted to president and chief executive officer of Normandeau Associates in Bedford, New Hampshire. At the turn of the century, she took the company from being owned by a Fortune 500 company to a private, 100% employee-owned, women-led business. She has served as chair of the board of directors since 2015, and just recently appointed a new chief executive officer after 32 years at the helm. Since taking over the company, Ms. Hall has established several new locations, including in Falmouth, Massachusetts; Gainesville, Florida; Stowe, Pennsylvania; and Drumore, Pennsylvania.

Founded in 1970, Normandeau Associates is recognized as a nationwide leader in environmental consulting services, research and technology, serving clients throughout the United States. Impressively, more than 75 percent of the company’s staff volunteer outside of the work environment in light of the company’s mission to provide community service and “give back.” Further recognized for their commitment to decreasing their carbon footprint, Normandeau Associates has improved energy efficiency in their office buildings, and focuses on reducing waste, and reusing and recycling materials whenever possible.

Alongside her dedication to Normandeau Associates, Ms. Hall currently sits on the board of directors for the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire, the board of advisors for the University of New Hampshire-Manchester, and the New Hampshire EPSCoR Council. Likewise, she has aligned herself professionally with The Nature Conservancy, the National Audubon Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, among other organizations.

Accruing several accolades and recognitions over the course of her career, Ms. Hall recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who. In 2016, she also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire, having previously earned from the association their Above and Beyond Award in 2014. Looking forward, Ms. Hall intends to expand Normandeau Associates further to meet the needs of the company’s clients and the evolving environmental industry.
