Supported by nearly 50 years of experience in social services, counseling and consultancy, George Raymond Lewis is a renowned licensed clinical social worker who presently serves as the clinical director of Assurance Home, Inc. Obtaining his position in 1992, he has also sat on Assurance Home’s board of directors. Prior to taking on his most recent role, Mr. Lewis served the New Mexico Health and Social Services Department in several capacities, including as a district training officer, field office manager, social worker consultant and district operations manager. He joined the New Mexico Health and Social Services Department in 1971 and departed in 1992.

Congruent to his primary roles, Mr. Lewis has also overseen and supervised MSW interns at New Mexico Highlands University since 1998. In addition, he has supervised field placement MSW interns at Western New Mexico University in 2020. A former behavioral science specialist for the Community Guidance Center in San Antonio, Mr. Lewis also excelled as an adjunct instructor at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces between 1971 and 1995, as well as at Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell from 1973 to 1976 and again in 1992. For three years, he was the clinical director of the Chaves County First Offender Program and sat as a member of the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners between 1988 and 1996.

Drawing upon an LCSW certification from New Mexico State University, Mr. Lewis earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico in 1966 and a Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake College in 1971. Civically, he has volunteered his time as a coordinator for the Alzheimer Association from 2000 to 2004, a member of the New Mexico Acupuncture Board from 1994 to 1995 and a member of Parents Anonymous of New Mexico, Inc., from 1978 to 1979. Earlier in his career, he served on the board of directors of the Chaves County Home Health Agency, Inc., in Roswell from 1973 to 1976.

To attest to his success, Mr. Lewis was twice named an Outstanding Young Man of America by the U.S. Jaycees and, most recently, he received the Caring Employee of the Year Award from the United Way in 2004. Additionally, he earned the New Mexico Rose Praisner Award in 1992.

Married to his wife, Tenelia Kay Boykin, since 1966, Mr. Lewis was born on July 7, 1944 to parents Raymond and Evelyn Lewis in Bridgeton, New Jersey. In his spare time, he enjoys greenhouse gardening, reading and genealogy.
