Recently, Dr. Edwards-Nixon served as an END-IONM clinical neurophysiologist with William Beaumont Hospital, now known as Beaumont Health, in Royal Oak, Michigan, from 2003 to 2008. Prior to this position, she was a laboratory assistant in the immunopathology laboratory and histology laboratory within the hospital from 2001 to 2003. Outside of these prominent roles, she was a clinical assistant of speech-language pathology and audiology with the Waco Integrated Clinical Facility of the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Systems. Earlier in her career, Dr. Edwards-Nixon served the Lake Pointe Senior Care from 1996 to 1997 with the rehabilitation team for occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology.
An advanced wellness practitioner in Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM), Dr. Edwards-Nixon is well-versed in counseling techniques and research focused on cognitive therapy, mindfulness, conceptualization and treatment planning, group counseling, psychometrics and addiction therapy. Prior to her undergraduate studies, she worked at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey, and subsequently completed audiology practicum at Baylor University and the Audiology Clinic.
Alongside her medical endeavors, Dr. Edwards-Nixon has exemplified her diverse interests through her community involvement. She is a minister of the Gospel of Grace and Peace and has served on several mission groups. Contributing to many other non-profit organizations throughout Michigan, she started the first K’Tonton, a Jewish pre-school, one-room schoolhouse in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in 1989. Likewise, her global ministry work has provided international traveling opportunities across five continents. Dr. Edwards-Nixon is a former regional board member of the American Baptist Churches of Michigan.
A member of the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists, Dr. Edwards-Nixon is also a prestigious communicator and speaker, being fluent in British English, Canadian French, Castilian Spanish and American Sign Language. As a testament to her success, Dr. Edwards-Nixon has received academic scholarships from Beaumont Hospital, Rotary International and St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. Furthermore, she has served on 22 student organizations during her graduate studies and received the bookends prestigious Staff Award for “Women Who Rock at OU” for exemplary service, leadership and professionalism. She has been highlighted in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and Who’s Who in the World. Impressively, she was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
