Trzasko, Joseph 4421275_3058031 NewsletterDrawn to the field of psychology by Dr. Ralph Reitan, considered one of the fathers of American clinical neuropsychology, Dr. Joseph A. Trzasko is a coveted neuropsychologist and forensic psychologist whose work is renowned throughout the rolling hills of New England. Upon the suggestion of his parents, Dr. Trzasko pursued higher education and initially desired to pursue mathematics. However, upon discovering psychology, he sought to delve into neuropsychology, as it was an emerging fi eld in the 1960s. After receiving a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from the University of New Hampshire and master’s degree, he was contacted by the University of Vermont, who offered him a National Defense Fellowship to obtain a doctorate in psychology. From there, Dr. Trzasko received a PhD in 1972.

Upon receiving a master’s degree in 1969, Dr. Trzasko began serving as a professor at Mercy College until earning emeritus status in 2008. Throughout his career in academia, he has also been a consultant psychologist for the Jewish Guild for the Blind in New York and the Orange County A.H.R.C., as well as a staff psychologist for St. Dominic’s Intermediate Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled between 1980 and 2018. Likewise, he has held a private practice in clinical psychology and psychological evaluations and was a consultant for Opengate Inc., between 2006 and 2013.

A licensed psychologist in the States of New York, New Jersey and New Hampshire, Dr. Trzasko is a diplomate and fellow of the American Board of Examiners, and holds qualifications and board certifications in psychology, psychological evaluation, forensic and neuropsychology, neuropsycho-educational evaluations and private practice referrals for diagnostic cases. Likewise, he is a certified clinical anxiety treatment professional. He has also served as a co-author of two books regarding visually impaired children.

Dr. Trzasko is a member of the American Psychological Association and American College of Forensic Examiners. A former grantee of the Educational Commission/National Assessment for Educational Progress, he was also a National Defense Education Act fellow of the University of Vermont during his graduate studies.

Looking towards the future, Dr. Trzasko intends to delve into treating individuals with substance abuse disorders in New Hampshire. He attributes his profound success to his willingness to pursue his passions without financial gain, as well as the influence of his own son, whom Dr. Trzasko believes is a brilliant clinician in his own right. Dr. Trzasko married Ann Kidd in 1971, and she has remained his companion and friend for the past 50-plus years.
