Equally interested in watercolor painting as much as he is about design, Mr. Jones and his wife have held nine two-person shows at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts beginning in 2000. Since that time, his work has been displayed in several juried exhibitions across the nation and in myriad private collections. In addition to his work as an artist, he is also an accomplished photographer, his work being exhibited in several galleries. Civically involved as well, he participated with the Illinois Epilepsy League and sat on the board of directors of Sponsors for Educational Opportunities in New York City.
As a testament to his artistic success, Mr. Jones has received multiple accolades and honors. The recipient of the Eleanor Hughes Award from the Mississippi Watercolor Society Grand National Watercolor Exhibition, he also received an Award of Excellence from the National Arts Foundation Exhibition and several awards from the Illinois Watercolor Society Members Show, including the Mayor’s Award/Award of Excellence, an Award of Merit, and two Honorable Mentions.
Stressing the importance of talent, Mr. Jones believes that talent must never be squelched or allowed to perish; if it is observed, it must be nurtured. He cites the highlight of his career to be serving on the board of Sponsors for Educational Opportunities, which he considers to be the most fulfilling work of his life.
