Granieri, Michael 3948505_16401390 Newsletter REVISEDDr. Michael N Granieri grew up in suburban Long Island and was exposed early on to electronics by his father, an Italian Immigrant and mechanic, who often tinkered with electro-mechanical automotive equipment. An inspired member of the “Sputnik” generation, Dr. Granieri took full advantage of the opportunities afforded to him by his exceptional high school (West Islip), which offered an integrated curriculum in advanced mathematics and science and vocational electrical/electronic technology. Upon graduation, Dr. Granieri entered the University of New Hampshire (his quintessential New England dream school), received both scholarship and work study aide, and subsequently received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1965, with honors in mathematics and science. He returned to Long Island upon graduation and joined Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, New York, in his first professional assignment.

Over the course of his extensive career, Dr. Granieri served such prominent technology businesses as Harris Corporation, Mantech International, National Instruments, Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies. During his career, he furthered his education with a PhD from Columbia Pacific University, which he earned in 1993. Supported by 49 years of excellence in engineering, he served Phase Matrix, Inc., in Washington, DC, as the senior vice president of Advanced Programs, Aerospace/Defense from 2003 until his retirement in 2014. Since retirement, he has been the president and chief technology officer of MNG Technology Enterprises.

Dr. Granieri has contributed myriad works to various publications and authored “A Systems Approach to Testability Design and Analysis” in 1993. Additionally, he sat on the advisory boards of both Test and Measurement Magazine and Electronics Magazine in the 1970s and 1980s. Conducting research in synthetic instrumentation working groups, he also provided Automatics Test Technology consultancy support to both DOD and private sector clients.

Influenced greatly by his parents growing up, who both valued education and possessed an extraordinary work ethic, Dr. Granieri is currently suggesting improvement to the electrical engineering curriculum at his alma mater in a technical advisory capacity. As such, he hopes that his experience and feedback will help modernize the curriculum. In light of his outstanding achievements, he has been featured in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World, and was a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
