Focusing his practice on trial law, Edwin David Robertson is an accomplished attorney who most recently served as senior counsel at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP from 2012 until his retirement from the legal industry in 2017. At the inception of his career in 1971, he served the prominent law firm as an associate for nine years before being promoted to partner, a role he impressively held for 32 years between 1980 and 2012. The recipient of a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Virginia, he was admitted to numerous district and appellate courts during his tenure in law.

Civically involved as well, Mr. Robertson most recently served his community as president of the disciplinary board of the Episcopal Diocese of New York from 2010 to 2017. Likewise, he maintained involvement with the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct for the First Judicial District from 2007 to 2015, having previously been a judge for the court of review with the Episcopal Church from 2001 to 2003. Likewise, he served the Oratorio Society of New York on their board of directors and as secretary between 1988 and 2004. Earlier in his career, he sat on the board of directors and served as chairman of the Early Music Foundation of New York City.

Demonstrating versatility in his field, Mr. Robertson has contributed as an editor to “The New York Rules of Professional Conduct” and contributed as an author of “Kassoff on Elder Law and Guardianship.” He also wrote “Brethren and Sisters of the Bar” in 2008. To remain abreast of developments in law, he has further maintained affiliation with numerous organizations, including on the house of delegates of the American Bar Association; as chairman of the bankruptcy committee, president and vice president, and chairman of the finance committee of
the New York County Lawyers Association; on the house of delegates and nominating committee of the New York State Bar Association; and as member of the New York City Bar Association.

When asked of his career highlights, Mr. Robertson notes that he is proudest of representing six widows of those who passed away in the September 11th terrorist attacks. He was able to get them compensation in an effort to make their lives a little easier from a financial standpoint. As a testament to his success, he received the Servant of Justice Award in 2014. Likewise, he has been published in a number of Who’s Who publications for his contributions to the field of law.
