A registered architect in the states of New York and Connecticut, John Kenyon Kinnear is a distinguished graduate of the Pratt Institute, where he received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1972 before commencing his career with Janko Rasic in New York. A certified member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, he has since served in a private practice in New York beginning in 2003. He practices as a generalist doing commercial, institutional and residential projects throughout the United States.

Alongside his primary career responsibilities, Mr. Kinnear has served in a number of civic appointments, including as chairman of the Architectural Advisory Committee for the town of Ridgefield, Connecticut. Among his notable achievements, Mr. Kinnear has completed myriad projects across the United States. He contributed to the Queen Elizabeth II September 11th Garden at Hanover Square in New York and the restoration of the National Register of Historic Places in Eastport, Maine; Leipsic, Delaware; Tuxedo Park, New York; Hyde Park, New York; and Litchfield, Connecticut.

Additionally, Mr. Kinnear dedicates his time as a lecturer and has developed a series of talks about “The Scots Who Built New York,” which will become a cell phone application for touring in New York, as well as a book. As a testament to his success, Mr. Kinnear was the recipient of the “DOC” Award for Credit Suisse – a cutting edge banking facility – as well as earned a Bronze Medal for an installation at the Chelsea Flower Show in London in 2005, previewing the Queen Elizabeth Garden in New York, for which he was project architect.

Mr. Kinnear grew up in New York, where he was exposed to the wonderments of New York and its architectural achievements. Moving to Ridgefield, Connecticut, he also developed a great appreciation for traditional architecture. His upbringing ultimately inspired him to pursue architecture as a career. He enjoys horseback riding and beagling in his spare time.
