Drawing upon more than 40 years of experience in education, Brenda Gail Jones most recently served as principal/program manager of special education for over a decade prior to her retirement. Discovering an inherent interest in leadership and working directly with people, she maintained involvement with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls as a teenager, citing that it was a transformative experience. Over time, she transitioned into education, and after obtaining a bachelor’s and master’s degrees, she became a certified teacher and school administrator in the State of California.

At the inception of her career in 1973, Ms. Jones served as a teacher at Lakeport Unified School District in California for nine years. Progressing to the rank of assistant principal in 1982, she served in that role for six years before becoming the director of educational services and special projects, a position she held for the following 12 years. From 2000 to 2003, Ms. Jones served the Redwood City School District in California as the director of pupil personnel services. Throughout her broad career, she also served on the management team and as co-chair of the Santa Clara County Office of Education for two years and previously was an instructor of English at Mendocino College for five years.

Reflecting on her extensive career, Ms. Jones believes that her dedication to the Santa Clara County Office of Education was an unwavering honor, noting that her  tenure there represented her decades of experience in academia and administration as a whole, including her hard work and compassion for her students. Born in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, Ms. Jones currently resides in Redwood City, California, and enjoys volunteering with her church in her spare time. Likewise, she also adores exercising, reading, gardening and taking care of animals.
