Holding a law degree and bachelor’s degree in psychology, Ms. Bassitt has authored numerous books in relation to her areas of expertise, most notably “Attorney Conduct,” published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education in 1985. Highly acclaimed, the book is considered a landmark volume and was entered into the Western Illinois University Law Library archives and the university held a banquet in her honor. She has maintained affiliation with the American Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association in an effort to remain abreast of developments in her field.
Prior to her retirement, Ms. Bassitt served her community as a pro bono lawyer for the Illinois Appellate Defender Program, the Constitutional Rights Foundation, Lawyers for the Creative Arts and the Schaumburg-Hoffman United Way on their board of directors. Additionally, she dedicated several years to the Harper College Women’s Program in Palatine, Illinois, and the College of Financial Planning in Denver as an instructor. Likewise, she is a past chair of the Wenatchee March of Dimes’ Mothers March in the State of Washington and founded the Washington County Illinois Medical Scholarship, which has been highly successful and is still active after more than 50 years.
As a testament to her success and longevity in the field, Ms. Bassitt was highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women. She has also maintained an AV Rating by Martindale-Hubbell for many decades.
