Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, Pastor Glenn Young was encouraged by his parents to become a pastor. They were both active in the church, and he participated often in church activities from his youth. Upon graduating from Gaithersburg High School, he attended Montgomery Community College, where he earned an Associate of Arts. During his studies, he would be influenced by an English teacher, Dr. Bill Ramsey. He taught this young man he could do college work, and he could be a success. From there, Pastor Young entered the Peace Corps for two years. Upon graduating from West Virginia Wesleyan College, he then went to seminary to study to become a pastor. During his three years there, he met another professor who would transform his life: Dr. Harry Taylor. This professor would help deepen his faith and become a better Christian and preacher of the Gospel. Beginning in 1972, Pastor Young served in the Baltimore Washington Conference for 18 years. From there, he became an addictions counselor with the Washington County Health Department and then at Roxbury Treatment Center in Shippensburg, PA, until the end of the century.

Demonstrating versatility in his profession, Pastor Young then became a life insurance agent with Monumental Life Insurance Company, and then with Woodmen of the World. Since 2008, he has been a licensed Pastor with the Church of the Brethren. During his ministry with the Church of the Brethren, he has chaired the Service and Outreach Commission and organized a Fall Festival, built two Habitat Houses, and began a ministry for the homeless in the community. He has also been a delegate to Annual and District Conferences. He has published several articles in the Upper Room, a devotional magazine. He is also currently working on a book about the Second Coming.

Pastor Young is a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren and the YMCA. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to his faith and community, he was highlighted in the 56th edition of Who’s Who in America, published in 2003.
