Equally passionate about serving her community, Ms. O’Brien has been the president of the Maplewood Civic Association since 2000, having previously served in the same position from 1989 to 1991. In addition, she currently sits as chair of the Maplewood Republican County Committee, chair of the Maple Leaf Service Award Committee, appointed fellow of Leadership New Jersey, chair of the leadership division and Speakers Bureau of the United Way of Essex and West Hudson, and chair of the Council chapter of the President Interaction Committee. Likewise, she has also been acting as chair of the Community Service Council of Orange and Maplewood Homelessness, and she currently sits on the board of trustees of the United Way Essex and West Hudson Community Service Council. Furthermore, she has maintained affiliation with the New Jersey PMI Educational, the International Project Management Institute Journal and Membership Survey, and the New Jersey Project Management Institute.
Ms. O’Brien holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. In 1989, she obtained certification in project management. A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals and various poems, she has served Lions Clubs International in a plethora of roles, including as third vice chair, which she has held since 2005. Attributing her success to the profound influence of her parents, who were both diligent and intelligent people, Ms. O’Brien is most proud of her volunteer work in the service and nonprofit industries, especially her involvement with the Eyeglass Recycling Program.
