Developing an interest in art from a formative age, Cherie St. Pierre, Ph.D., has been a talented painter since she was a little girl. Pursuing formal education in her youth, she received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in art education from the State University College at Buffalo in 1967 and 1970, respectively, followed by a Master of Arts in Italian from Middlebury College in 1976. After gaining prominence in the field, she concluded her education in 1992 with a Doctor of Philosophy in Communication and Culture in the English department from New York University.

For 33 fruitful years, Dr. St. Pierre served as an art teacher for kindergarten through 12th
grade at the Kenmore-Tonawanda Union Free School District. Alongside her primary endeavors, she was a college supervisor for student teachers and cooperating teacher for art student teachers at the State University College at Buffalo, as well as a former senior partner at the New York State Academy for Teaching and Learning. A past adjunct professor of Medaille College, she was also an advisor of multimedia production at the New York State Council for the Arts.

Demonstrating versatility in her profession, Dr. St. Pierre has also been an avid photographer. She has also been featured in the book “The Flower Teachers: Stories for a New Generation” in 2002. She was also an illustrator for the Journal Italian Americana for a decade, as well as a designer of greeting cards for the American Lung Association for one year. In light of her outstanding contributions to the industry, she received the Outstanding Service Award from the New York State Art Teachers Association in 2001.
