After taking several banking classes while studying for his degree, W. David Hemingway knew he wanted to pursue a career in banking. He was very interested in how banks handle and secure money and how interest rates and credit cards work, and he knew that he would excel in the field. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah. Mr. Hemingway spent the majority of his career at Zions Bancorporation, beginning in 1973. He served in various positions including as an officer and as executive vice president of capital markets and investments. In addition, he served as the vice chairman of investments at Zions Management Services Co., a subsidiary of Zions Bancorporation.
As a diverse professional, Mr. Hemingway also served on the board of directors of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (Farmer Mac) from 1994 to 2010. Civically, he serves as chairman of the Utah State Money Management Council and was a candidate for the Utah state legislature. He has also been active with the Utah Bankers Association, serving on the board of directors, as vice chairman, and as chairman of the association. In addition, Mr. Hemingway recently wrote the Re-Empowerment of the States Amendment to the US Constitution, which is currently filed in the US Congress as a House Joint Resolution 32.
