Maintaining her childhood artistic nature, Mary French Sweet has built a successful career in the arts. A graduate of Stanford University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in art and Master of Arts in art. As a prolific artist, Ms. Sweet has exhibited her work nationally and internationally for nearly 60 years. After she obtained her degree, she took part in her first solo exhibition at the University Club of Cincinnati in Ohio. She went on to hold solo exhibitions at places such as the Tuomala Arts Gallery in Fort Bragg, CA, the Vacaville Art League and Gallery in Vacaville, CA, the Vallejo Art League and Gallery, and the Gekas-Nicholas Gallery in Tucson, AZ. In addition, she has participated in group shows at various venues, including the Tarbox Gallery in San Diego, CA, the Laughing Bear Gallery in Placitas, NM, Leon Loard Galleries in Montgomery, AL, the Snowgrass Institute in Cashmere, WA, and the Blankley Gallery in Albuquerque, NM. Most recently, from 2015 to 2018, she had a permanent collection at the Yosemite Renaissance in Yosemite, CA. Currently, her work is being exhibited in group shows at the Museum of Albuquerque, the Dartmouth Street Gallery, and the Weyrich Gallery in Albuquerque, NM.
For her talent and hard work, Ms. Sweet was awarded second prize at a Spring Exhibit hosted by the New Mexico Watercolor Society in 2013. Throughout her career, she has been greatly influenced by her grandmother, who grew up in the country and was also a talented artist. In her spare time outside of work, she enjoys skiing, hiking, backpacking, running, and traveling.
