Since she was four years old, Elaine Marie Baunhuber Fisher has been considered the family artist. When she was in the seventh grade, she was fascinated by some photographic printing paper she found on a gum wrapper. From then on, she has been invested in photography and began working with negatives and tri-chem packs to helps develop her skills. In 1961, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University and in 1989, she received a Master of Design from Harvard University. Specializing in fine arts photography, Ms. Fisher served as chancellor of the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth for more than 30 years. She now holds the title of professor emerita of photography at the university.

In addition to Ms. Fisher’s educational positions, she has also been an active artist. Throughout her career, she has held more than 150 exhibitions in more than 100 galleries, museums, and universities in 27 states. Most recently, she participated in a group exhibition at the Belmont Gallery of Art in Belmont, Massachusetts.
