With a Doctor of Medicine earned in Beijing, China, Shujun Li, MD began his career as an assistant professor from 1982 to 1986. He then immigrated to the United States in 1986 and became a visiting professor at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center from 1987 to 1988. He then served as a fellow in transplant surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 1989 to 1996. During this time, he also served as an assistant professor at the University of California and as the medical director of the Organ and Tissue Acquisition Center of Southern California in San Diego, CA. He then served as an associate professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and as a senior consultant for the Association of Chinese Professionals in Dallas, TX, from 1996 to 2003. In 2004, Dr. Li returned to Beijing and joined Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics as a professor and chairman of the department of surgery for 10 years.
Throughout his career, Dr. Li also extended his expertise in surgery as the contributor of articles to professional journals. Today, in order to remain abreast of developments in his field, he maintains affiliation with the International College of Surgeons, the Southwestern Surgical Congress, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. In his spare time outside of work, Dr. Li enjoys travel and tennis.
