As a teacher and a counselor for many years, Eleanor Zeitlen Avinor, PhD, MSc, MA worked in a crisis center, which inspired her to pursue a degree in psychotherapy in order to better help those around her. Dr. Avinor’s various degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in English language and a Master of Arts, both from the University of Haifa, a Master of Science in psychotherapy from the University of Derby, and a Doctor of Education from the University of New Mexico. She has also taken courses in redecision therapy at the Southeast Institute and courses in psychotherapy at the school of psychotherapy at Rambam Medical Center.

Dr. Avinor began her career in 1972 as a researcher and teacher at Haifa University in Haifa, Israel; she held this position for nearly 40 years. In 1990, she became the head of the department and an academic director at KEG (Keys to Emotional Growth) Cards International, briefly serving as the academic chief executive officer in 2013. In 2007, she became a psychotherapist in private practice. Dr. Avinor’s KEG cards are two sided cards meant to be used by therapists. On one side of the cards are pictures and the on the other side are questions, which therapists ask in order to get to the core issues of the clients. Most recently, she presented her KEG cards at a conference in Holland, which was
themed “Reattach” and focused on Autism.

After 46 years of experience in her field, Dr. Avinor has gained expertise in psychology, mental health, counseling, and psychological assessment. In 2000, she received the Rector’s Committee Grant, which enabled her to create internet modules for foreign language courses. Throughout her career, Dr. Avinor has been most gratified seeing her clients happy and satisfied. Most notably, she was proud to have a transgender client who was happy with their new body and new life. In addition, Dr. Avinor is the proud parent of children who are happy in their lives, professionals, marriages, and families.
