In 1954, The Reverend Dr. William H. Andrews felt a strong call to the ministry during a worship service given by Dr. Duke K. McCall, the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia, the Rev. Dr. Andrews received a Bachelor of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Seminary and became ordained to the ministry in 1956. He served as pastor of the First Baptist Church and then at County Line Baptist Church. While serving as pastor, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University in 1963. He also received two Masters of Education from Baylor University in 1968 and from the University of Georgia in 1969. Also in 1969, he returned to the Southern Baptist Seminary to receive a Master of Divinity. The Rev. Dr. Andrews continued the rest of his education a Luther Rice Seminary, receiving a Master of Theology in 1971, a Doctor of Theology in 1973, and a Ph.D. in ministry in 1982.
The Rev. Dr. Andrews has encountered several mentors throughout his career, including Aubrey Hawkins, who encouraged and helped him, and William Bates, who was the director of missions at the Southern Baptist Association. As a pastor, the Rev. Dr. Andrews served at the New Georgia Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas and at the County Line Baptist Church before returning to the First Baptist Church in 1984. Outside of his ministry work, the Rev. Dr. Andrews also served as a moderator, an evangelist, and a school psychologist. In his career, he has been blessed to be able to help a lot of people along the way. In his spare time, the Rev. Dr. Andrews enjoys hunting, fishing, and philately.
