Dr. Abbott-Johnson commenced her professional career in 1971 as a dietician at Sydney Adventist Hospital. After that, she worked at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane for over three decades, serving in several capacities and ultimately reaching the status of = Senior Advanced Level Dietician Nutritionist. Equipped with a broad understanding of her chosen field, Dr. Abbott- Johnson established her own practice in 1998. She has worked primarily in the field of preoperative nutrition and surgical outcomes; conducted research on vitamin A and the correlation of night-blindness in patients suffering from advanced liver disease; and has studied the biomarkers of vitamin B12 and folate status in the elderly.
In addition to her work, Dr. Abbott-Johnson stays abreast of industry trends and developments through her affiliation with several organizations. She maintains membership with the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand, and the Dieticians Association of Australia. Dr. Abbott Johnson’s findings have been published in numerous industry-related journals, and she has discussed her studies at several conference proceedings. Although she is semi-retired, Dr. Abbott Johnson wishes to continue her consulting work. In her leisure time, she enjoys music, reading and bushwalking.
