Backed by almost a half-century of professional experience, Stephen Ward Shambaugh, LLB, established himself as a renowned leader in the legal field. Now retired, Mr. Shambaugh previously provided legal services via his sole practice based in Denver, Colo., from 1981 to 1997. Before embarking on the route of a sole practitioner, Mr. Shambaugh was a senior partner at Bowman, Shambaugh, Geissinger & Wright, and a staff member of Reading & Bates, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Shambaugh served as vice president, general manager and legal counsel for Reading & Bates Drilling Company Ltd. from 1954 to 1963.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Shambaugh maintained numerous affiliations in order to exercise his passion for the industry and for his community. He was a member of the Canadian Petroleum Association’s board of governors, a board member of the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors, and a member of the American Legion. A retired colonel of the U.S. Air Force, he
is a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America. Mr. Shambaugh also maintained affiliation with the P-51 Mustang Pilots Association and Phi Alpha Delta. Notably, he has also served as director and financial counsel of several corporations.

Born in South Bend, Ind., Mr. Shambaugh completed coursework at San Jose State Teachers College in 1940 and then went on to study at the University of Arkansas in 1951. In 1954, he received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tulsa. Since entering the field, Mr. Shambaugh has been acknowledged for his hard work and dedication, including earning recognition as a Who’s Who Lifetime Achiever. He has been featured in various Who’s Who publications, such as Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World.
