After serving in the U.S. Army in the late 1950s, Wiley Eugene Knott established the foundation of his career by attending Tri-State University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in electronic engineering in 1963. Additionally, he completed graduate coursework at Union College and Georgia College. He first came into prominence in his field as an associate aircraft engineer for Lockheed Martin Corporation from 1963 to 1965. Mr. Knott then worked for General Electric as a technical publications engineer, group leader and senior publications engineer. Later, he joined Boeing’s Military Division in Wichita, Kansas, and held positions as a senior specialist engineer, customer support manager and logistics manager. Mr. Knott served the aircraft manufacturing company for more than 15 years before retiring as the principal engineer at Boeing’s Everett, Washington, location in 1995.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Mr. Knott contributed to his field and his community through numerous professional affiliations. He was an adviser for Junior Achievement USA from 1978 to 1979, and a member of the Republican Political Action Committee and National Republican Senatorial Committee, serving both organizations from 1979 to 1986. Moreover, Mr. Knott lent his expertise and services to the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Republican Presidential Task Force. From 1981 to 1986, he served the U.S. Congressional Advisory Board as a state adviser, and from 1975 to 1990, he was an active member of the American Security Council. Mr. Knott was also a member of the Museum of Aviation from 1987 to 1995.

Mr. Knott is a life member of the National Rifle Association, the National Defense Industrial Association, the Association of the U.S. Army, and the Air Force Association. Notably, he was a founding sponsor of the National Army Museum. Furthermore, Mr. Knott maintains affiliation with Overseas Brats, Military Brats, Gun Owners of America and the Heritage Foundation. Recognized for his profound involvement in his profession and his community, Mr. Knott has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who with inclusion in publications such as Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World.
