Truly passionate about the field of social work and the welfare of American veterans, Cora Hodge Taylor serves as the coordinator of contract programs for the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, a hospital directly affiliated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She has fervently served in this role for 24 years. Previously, she held the role of supervisory social worker of geriatrics and long-term care and the role of clinical social worker for the hospital. Additionally, Ms. Taylor served as a field instructor for the Smith College School for Social Work, Boston University’s School of Social Work and the Regional Health Center in Massachusetts. She kick-started her illustrious career as an instructor and consultant to primary care residents at Tufts University.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Taylor has been actively involved in her community and within her professional field. For the last three decades years, she has served as a Deacon of the First Congressional Church. Formerly, she served as the women veterans’ coordinator for the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital’s Social Work Leadership Training Program. She has also volunteered for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs food pantry. She has also maintained affiliations with the Academy of Certified Social Workers, National Association of Social Workers, African American Club in the Villages, and Women of Hope.
Ms. Taylor launched her career after earning a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina College, which is now known as North Carolina Central University, in 1963. She went on to earn a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1965.
