Amassing nearly four decades of professional experience, Arthur S. Daus, MD, FAANS, is a respected and accomplished neurological surgeon with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in his practice areas. Serving as a USMEPCOM Chief Medical Officer with the Midwest Neurosurgery Center in Joplin, Missouri, since 2013, he has also served as a neurological surgeon in his private practice since 1988. Throughout his career, he has treated his patients with utmost empathy and professionalism, using his vast array of experience to best treat his clients’ medical conditions and help them lead successful lives post-surgery.

Equally passionate about civil rights and his community, Dr. Daus has been a participant with the National Coalition of Physicians Against Family Violence since 1994, and he is a scholarship contributor to the University of Kentucky and St. Xavier High School. A trustee and donor to the Mindful Charitable Annuity Trust and the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky, he has also been a physician’s assistant with the University of Louisville Medical School and Louisville Undergraduate School. In addition, he has remained associated with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the American Red Cross, the Christian Appalachian Fund and Feed the Children organization.

Dr. Daus is a frequent presenter in the field and researched for the American College of Surgeons Publication. He is also a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to neurosurgery, he has been honored with the Physician’s Recognition Award from the American Medical Association countless times; first between 1990 and 1994, and then every year since 2003. Previously, he won the Civilian Award from USMEPCOM Eighth Battalion in 2015, the Physician’s Recognition Award with Special Commendation from the American Medical Association from 1993 to 2003, and the Continuing Education Award from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons from 1990 to 2010. Likewise, he was presented with the 1985 Kentucky State Residents Award by the American College of Surgeons’ committee on trauma.

The recipient of a Bachelor of Science in physics, magan cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and Doctor of Medicine from St. Louis University, Dr. Daus was a rotating intern in surgery and a resident in neurosurgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center between 1981 and 1988. He is a licensed physician in the states of Kentucky, Missouri, California, Tennessee, Ohio and Indiana, as well as a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the Federation of State Licensing Examiners. In his spare time, he enjoys playing chess, swimming, horseback riding, archery and riflery.
