Robert D. Borteck has been assisting clients with their legal needs for 45 years. Currently, he practices through his firm, Borteck Law, a boutique law firm that specializes in the areas of estate planning, expert witness services in tax, probate and trust-related litigation, and estate and trust administration and litigation. Additionally, the firm provides tax and business planning for entrepreneurs and closely-held businesses. Prior to the establishment of Borteck Law, Mr. Borteck served as a partner for numerous firms, including: Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti; Gern, Dunetz, Davison, Borteck & Weinstein; and Shanley & Fisher. He first began to establish prominence in the legal field as an associate with Pitney, Hardin & Kipp, a firm for which he served from 1972 to 1977. Today, Mr. Borteck maintains bar admissions in the states of New Jersey and New York, as well as the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Outside of his firm, Mr. Borteck contributes to the field of law as a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He also serves as chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Inheritance Tax Rules and Regulations Committee. Additionally, Mr. Borteck frequently lectures on estate and tax planning topics to private and professional groups. He has delivered multiple presentations through the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the New Jersey State Bar Association and the National Business Institute. Mr. Borteck also co-authored a two-volume dissertation, titled “New Jersey Estate Planning, Will Drafting and Estate Administration Forms,” which was published by Lexis Law Publishers.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from New York University, Mr. Borteck went on to receive a Juris Doctor from the university’s school of law. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Borteck has been consistently recognized for his ample achievements. He has been listed by the Best Lawyers in America since 1995 and has been voted among New Jersey’s Top 100 Super Lawyers®. Since 2005, Mr. Borteck has been named among the New York Area’s Best Lawyers in the areas of trusts and estates. Most recently, he has been recognized as a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who’s Who for his success in the field of law.
